I write from my imperfect heart to breathe fresh air. When one opens the gate out of bounds To question the norms of ones existence Some will say he is pushing too far But when one questions a purpose in life Is it not a blessed event Some say it is pompous to show my frailty But are we not Gods children born imperfect Or do I have to be trapped in a perfect body For everyone to admire in front of To only despise in the shadows of truth Are not poets the thinkers who open up the clouds Pouring in us the feeling of being so human For us to cry our thoughts for people to make songs from To elevate so beautifully and then deflate so fast we bruise Carrying the feeling of the blues in reality My perfection lies in everything I have done wrong And had to do a u-turn so fast that my head spins Off in another direction as if a top Balancing on a wire If I ever met an unblemished poet Then I would really have a politician in front of me And their words will run so shallow That the mirror they look from Would vote for themselves So as some have said I am pretentious in my verse That would put a crown on me Putting me into the royalty of poets When all I want is for my verse to live free Opening up in unhindered minds Letting them ascend the throne And leave me begging to be understood A challenge defeatist some claim On that they are right For who am I to change anything Gross self-indulgence running amok Am I not a sinner in pain Preaching in words that anyone can use Trying to put them together in a puzzle of life So why must I scream my words into you I don’t for they must flow into you Reaching points of your choosing On interpretations that might be different With every person that reads them So when I finally meet my soulmate She will love me for everything I do wrong But try to make right She will lay next to me and feel my depth Glowing inside as I question the world of emotions Coming back to her for reassurance That she gives like no other For she will be the one I really write for To be understood Email me at [email protected] D.Lester Young (05/22/02) Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) http://www.authorsden.com/visit/author.asp?AuthorID=5012 |

So when I finally meet my soulmate She will love me for everything I do wrong But try to make right She will lay next to me and feel my depth Glowing inside as I question the world of emotions Coming back to her for reassurance That she gives like no other For she will be the one I really write for To be understood So true...there were several verses I loved this and one other: So as some have said I am pretentious in my verse That would put a crown on me Putting me into the royalty of poets When all I want is for my verse to live free Opening up in unhindered minds Letting them ascend the throne And leave me begging to be understood I really enjoyed your words DLY *s M |
