The Underside of the Ocean Breathe she is like sunshine mixed with soft and just a hint of spring’s ripe spilled breast Ah but her eyes her eyes are the color of the underside of the ocean Can you tell I am besotted captured by the smile that flicks on and off the humming and shrieks of unfolding I look at her and see more then one beginning for being a grandmother is a landmark step down a path that takes me past myself to the future and back to my own first baby now past Her small hand pulling my hair pulls me also into the sweet enormity of motherhood where my fullness let down at a whimper and wetted my clothing with impatience where I winged my way and was taught by love I can still feel that tingle in a tear and I’m amazed at the way life ebbs and flows and still I question the grand plan knowing fragile skin sometimes cannot keep life safe for breath is as diaphanous as wings on butterflies |

You did not provide a Kleenex alert. What must I do to remind you that you write of chimes and bluebells...and when you do, you must bring Kleenex... |

BRAVO!!! Oh my gosh, I just love the way you express things, sweet friend, and may your dreams always flow gracefully and be transparent to all like butterflies golden wings! (kiss on cheek) This is lovely, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

If, by chance, a hand of a small soul is offered, and the teacher is one of common blood then the Learning never stops neither does the Love Remarkable writing, Martie. A future as vast as the itch for its belly to be scratched. tSR |

Oh sweet Martie...only you... Only you could have written this beautiful piece that makes my eyes glisten... Only you could pen such a perfect closing line as this... "for breath is as diaphanous as wings on butterflies" Thank you for the remember... ~Hugs~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

See, didn't I tell you that line belonged in a poem? A lovely poem of your dear, Samantha, Martie, and one that I'm keeping. *hugs* my friend Michael |

can still feel that tingle in a tear and I’m amazed at the way life ebbs and flows and still I question the grand plan knowing fragile skin sometimes cannot keep life safe for breath is as diaphanous as wings on butterflies I don't know how you do it, Martie...but this is another piece of your brilliance...and thank you for sharing this bit of your life with us. ~ grandmotherly hugs Lyra |

Ah but I know these "tingles" too well, and would not trade them for anything. I do enjoy how you write of them for us "grammies" though for you speak all of our hearts. |

"Breathe she is like sunshine mixed with soft and just a hint of spring’s ripe spilled breast Ah but her eyes her eyes are the color of the underside of the ocean" Martie....There's only one way to describe the imagery when you write and that's LUSH! |

Her small hand pulling my hair pulls me also into the sweet enormity of motherhood where my fullness let down at a whimper and wetted my clothing with impatience where I winged my way and was taught by love I can still feel that tingle in a tear and I'm amazed at the way life ebbs and flows and still I question the grand plan knowing fragile skin sometimes cannot keep life safe for breath is as diaphanous as wings on butterflies ========================= oh my.... OH MY.... when she arrived, I said I couldnt wait to see the poetry she inspired in you... I should have known youd take that to higher level of inspiration and reflection. and you already know those last two lines are now etched on my heart...with 2 butterfly sighs. for M & V |

you did it again martie... i really love the way you throw your words together. it's "simple" in construction, without snazzy, flowery phrases, but so complex in intent and function. and with this one... while i have absolutely no desire to go through the whole pregnancy and delivery, i have to admit a certain envy that i will never be able to feel what it is like to be a mother. from your words here and the words of others, it is a truly unique gift. thanks for listening to me ramble Chris |
