Clear light beer,
In a tall clean glass cost but a scrape of paper,
Snacks from the rack
Bags of salty starches are just a pair of quarters,
The sweaty glass sits,
The crumpled bag waits,
All I can do is stare out the window at the rain,
Pouring down like tears knowing my pain.

My steel horse,
Dirty from miles traveled on muddy road,
Awaits my course
Bulk metal from which I sadly have strode.
My thirst not sated,
My hunger growls,
All I can do is trace patterns in spilt beer,
Future pathways of places I still fear.

Closing the bar,
Still sober from thoughts of tomorrow,
To my dirty car,
The silver glass reflects my eyes of sorrow,
My heart still thirsts,
My soul still hungers,
All I can do is to drive off into the darkness,
No traveling will increase the distance.

Gloom
Inspired by the writings of Li Bai,
Chinese poet of the T'ang Dynasty

Indeed, a well thought out and well constructed creation.  You expressed the mood very well.  Keep up the good work.

Thank you, Seymour,
Pleased you enjoyed.

Thank you, Inclan,
The structure is taken from the poem by Li Bai,
I even took the same basic theme, and changed it a little,
Although his is more upbeat than mine.

Thank you, Zinsser,
Glad you liked,
I guess the reader will get what they will from the words,
The more important question is not what I mean,
But what it means to you.
