To Stay

The sky was made of clouds on blue,
sun and shadow played
and the wind took my heart
until I was dancing with trees.

To each tree, a rhythm is given.
A slow dance with the palm
in western connection
had me all a twirl,
but the leafed out shirts of green
so wiggled me in cha cha down streets,
I moved ‘til I was quite unfurled.

To dance like this is to fly
and open something with the vessel of wonder.
It is as though a door calls me,
one that is usually closed,
and across a place of magic
moves me,  moves me until

I feel how it must be the first time
my hair winged out into another fabric,
when the air around me circled space,
for I landed on some greater fathom
filled, yet wounded with a longing for the scent
of some whispered secret joy,  and a cry to stay,

to stay.

Martie, you bring the arms of the music to surround us. A hug received and returned.

Oh such images you can conjure up Martie!
I can see your mind's vision dancing with the trees.....beautiful write, deep and light all in the same vein......loved it!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

I've always been helpless to describe what it feels like to read one of your poems... I should have known you'd have the perfect words. *S*

This is beautiful. *S*
