Of Mud and Straw

I made a hut of mud and straw
It melted in the rains downpour
And I am wet to the skin
Without as well as within

A house to keep the wolf away
I’m sure would come for me some day
And built the house as well I could
At least as well as understood

But then he knew the use of pain
Of acid in each drop of rain
And the house just melted down
To crown me with a mud straw crown

Today I live a house of brick
Built with mortar very thick
And learned to be a butterfly
When ere the sun is hot and dry?

I named my house My Shangri-la
And wish each night upon a star.

Seymour I feel as I know you, your hand and heart have reached out and touched me many many times. Your writing is incredibly beautiful carrying within it an indefinable quality that shows the worth of the man. We all have our favourite writers, Krissy and Mum both have you in their top five, I have you in my top two. Your writing is incredibly descriptive and well presented. YOU are one of the stars that light the heavens.

BTW I love this piece of writing
Its Mushy’s youngest daughter here<>
lots of love

I find the humor of your mind
drawing on realities kind
for lessons learned from childhood dear
are that which we would still keep near...

That wolf is one you need not fear ...
not as long as Randy & I are near.
He'll not harm your chinny chin chin
for we will huff and puff and do him in.

A wolf is no match for a dragon and butterfly
His butt is of thatch and we've got a firefly sigh.

I'm telling ya Sy that your muse is just way too cool!  You gave this theme a unique new twist and I still found pieces of myself in this.  Me thinks it's time to build my own Shangri-la too

Take care,
Melissa~

If you can hang your hat there
and if it is your heart's abode
then it is strong as strong can be
for a wolf can't punch in Sy's gate code

Enjoyed, as always!
