Angel Wings

Her eyes have closed forever
your love has turned to sadness
your little girl
your dearest one
the story of her life, unfinished now
the last paragraph dangling in midair
your tears have no end

but if you search the spaces between the pain
and the places between the grief
she will be there for you
always

and if you sift through the dismal cobwebs
between the beats of your broken heart
you will catch a glimpse of her
her angel wings fluttering
as she beams her love
at her dearest Pops

may God bless you and your family, Larry

Lyra, only you can write such warmth in
a moment when the chill surrounds a family
in need of such warmth..

Very beautiful dear lady...

Who else but you could have written such beautiful words of comfort

Thank you for sharing your warm heart

Thy coolness and they balm

Lyra,
though your heart is crying with words unsaid how beautifully you express the truth.
this says so much.
and if you sift through the dismal cobwebs
between the beats of your broken heart
you will catch a glimpse of her
her angel wings fluttering
as she beams her love
at her dearest Pops

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Lyra hi there that you have taken the time to create such a superbly crafted poem to offer in some way comfort to Larry shows without doubt how compassionate and loving you are. Beautiful writing and amazing sentiments, but over all the love you feel for Larry C must give his soul some measure of comfort in a time of inconsolable grief

lots of love

Thank you all so much for your replies....
I am sorry that I couldn't answer each one of you individually, like I usually do...but I've been so devestated by what happened to Larry, that I let myself get behind in my thank yous....and tomorrow is the 3rd anniversary of my first husband's death...and this is all beginning to blur together for me.
This is shameful...Larry has been doing a much better job at answering his replies than I am.
I love you all ~ lots and lots of teary hugs

Thank you so much, Sharon...I appreciate your reply...this has been a very tough day for me.  I feel Larry's sadness blurring with my own.
We've been watching videos of my first husband playing with my grandaughters all night.....it really sharpens the memory...and although they say that memories mellow with time, they are still at this moment...very bittersweet for me.
I'm so glad that David understands.

Thanks so much, Martin...as I have said...this really is a true story and although I have moved to a new house since Eric's death...I still have those shoes in my kitchen...they make me feel connected with him.

Sorry Martin....this answer was supposed to be for your reply to my poem called "The Shoes"  I will have to go back and re-write it for that....
I am having a bad day today...its the 3rd anniversary of my first husband's death.
