climb the creepy stairs
by yourself little child
wonder about the shadows
imagination running wild
father figure offers
little comfort in the night
do not fall asleep, my child
nor let him out your sight
mother's hugs sustain you
in the day, when she's around
until the weekend comes
when she will spend nights
on the town
protect yourself against the
witches hateful, gleaming eyes
they lie in wait to get you
with their favorite surprise-
"brother" locks you in the dark
where ghosts & goblins sway
put your hands upon the board
to watch what it will say

"pen in hand
upon the white
wait for it
to move & write
feel the cold
of someone there
someone who
just does not care"

climb the creepy stairs
to your bedroom little child
it's time for you to take a nap
by yourself a while
when the dead returns to you
one you've never seen
explain to unbelievers what
you saw and do not scream
fill your empty spaces with
your music and your art
fight the demons of the past
with passion in your heart
remember as the memory of
great grandmother's death-
the way they held you down
to inhale her final breath-
that when the writings on
the wall & all is said done
you've learned what fear can
truly be- for them, it's just
begun...

climb the creepy stairs,
my child...

Gosh Tier....

This poem is haunting in the fact that
there is so much truth within it...

The fears of a child...retained and
remembered always...

Very well expressed...

I can see why several may read
but not be able to reply...for
some, it may shiver to close to
the bone...

well done, Tier...
