Author's Note:  This is just a poem meant to be a fun read.  There is no intense emotional expirience attached to it or anything.  I just wanted to describe the type of dragonfly that I like.  It sounds like a poem that would be written in an extremely sappy greeting card, but I think it reads well.

Dragonflies

The dragonfly may take a stand
Against the grace of every hand
And gently shun the broadest palm
On which to rest his person on,

Or better yet, stay out of reach
To guide the brave around the beach.
He leads them on a merry chase
While keeping up a faster pace.

There's also some who zip on by
As if they were a common fly
And never drop from silken air
To visit all who gather there.

My favorite dragonfly of all
Always lands to make a call
On patient hand or resting knee
And likes to stop and talk with me!

I am in awe... you led me around the pond with this one.... and then..... like the expert you must be, you let patience prevail.. only when you stop chasing will you find..... your dragonfly. An exceptional write.... Goes into my library.... and I also have a friend on icq that is getting this as a card....and by the way, this is the first poem I have read of yours and I am looking forward to finding many more if this is any example of your style and artistry.

I love this, Oceanus!  I personally don't think it belongs on a sappy greeting card.  Maybe in a children's book of poetry.  That's a compliment, because I have always loved that simple and joyful style of expression.  I love how you put us in the world of dragonflies as if they were the most important creatures in the world, and that they believed so themselves.
I always enjoy reading your poetry.  This one is definitely going in my library!  Well done!
