Please Let Me Rest

Alone in silence,
as we sleep,
The thoughts creep in,
These dreams we keep.
Echoes of fear
In subconscious release,
A time so vulnerable,
Lacking in peace.
Wake to an image
Of cold apprehension,
Pondering the evils
That fill rest's distension.
A body is worthy
Of wealthful repair,
But a mind is more difficult
To slow and give care
To what ultimately will meet
A final demise,
As the head denies rest
And the body expires.
The battle it seems
Is too commonly present
Between a mind's greed
And a body's benevolence.

"Where there's a will, there's a way, and with these thoughts, to Passions I stray."  ~SM

I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound.

my3monkeytoes,
Interesting concept on sleep and it's healing properties. Well done.
