There Must Be Something More ...

Where once my mind was filled with hope,
My will, now shattered, fights to cope;
Too burdened by the daily strife
With useless wants and needs in life.

I know you may not understand
The dreams I’ve had ... the things I’ve planned;
It’s not surprising, for you see,
They often have eluded “me”.

No time is left to chase a dream ...
Reality is too extreme,
It’s wicked force, like pure disease
Contaminates my fantasies.

A vortex seems to suck me in,
Then steals my strength from deep within;
Confused and weary, I am dragged
From day to day, left bound and gagged.

The dreams I had so long ago
Have vanished to the depths below ...
No longer, do they raise their head,
If truth be known ... they’re long since dead.

I do not live ... I just exist,
Yet somehow manage to subsist;
If you would look, I’m sure you’d see,
How empty I have come to be.

Oh my, I hope you're okay...  I honestly know how you feel.  I hope you really don't feel this way--it's awful!  This is such a beautiful poem, and it tugged at my heart.  You may feel like you've lost the war, but you've only lost if you've given up.
Hugs and kisses and chocolate and flowers and love!

Kit,

The song you sang within this poem
Is the slightest little moan?
I’ve looked into your loving eyes
And saw their golden butterflies.

You radiate a transient charm
That speaks to me a nine alarm
And if I could loose fifty years
You’d have a beau to burn your ears.

You are a flower beyond say
With a lovely hypnotic way
That turned my weary head about
That surely was beyond a doubt.

I will not hear these sad laments
Or even let them cast ferment.
You will remain my butterfly
That writes your hews across the sky.

Please do not cry of life’s despair
You light the fires of my dare.

How empty I've become you say?
Don't let your mood get stuck this way
No emptiness in you sweet love
When you write words like those above

And even if you feel sometimes
unfulfillness, when writing rhymes
allow yourself this single day
but never throw your dreams away

Dreams are foundations on wich we stay
Dreams are the reason we go on and play
So when you're in this mood my friend
It's not your dreams away you must send

Love, Titia

Wow, Kit.....what a great poem about burnout!

A big vacations' what you need
where no one's call, you'll have to heed
no makeup, will you have to wear
no need you'll have to style your hair

if you're too tired, permission to stay
unadorned...in bed all day
and all your meals should be brought in
by husband, wearing loving grin

no work...for you, should he allow
please hold him to this solemn vow
but poems...you must continue to write
for that will keep you in our sight

I looked....I saw nothing empty. I saw a lady with a love of life that far exceeded her setbacks. I saw a grin that will always win....I saw Kit McCallum

(BIG HUGGGSSSSSSSS) Oh Kit, never say that, don't ever say that, you are a very special person to us all, just think about all the wonderful things you've done for so many! You are such a wonderful contributor to this community and if it wasn't for you, the Deputy Mod Squad would have never been possible, just as you have inspired so many of us on all the forums, including me for one! You also make your family and friends so very proud too, sweet friend, and I know that ahead of you you will find so much more joy and as you follow your dreams, you will always find a smile! (kiss on cheek) My heart goes out to you, sweet friend, we are always here for you, God Bless you, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kit, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Well yes I saw all that Balladeer saw, but I also saw a reflection of something we spoke of.  Remember my saying sweetie, "start where you want to finish".  Sometimes just being able to sign because you see something beatiful is worth more than all the money in the world compared to a sigh of frustration or sadness.  The feelings conveyed in this poem I knew once so well, but now I sigh at the wonders of this world instead.
Hang in there!      Consider  yourself hugged!

Kit hi there this is what I call writing, the rhythm the rhyme the internal flow are as smooth as water over glass. Absolutely exquisite writing, I wish I could write like this, however I know I never will so I won’t wish for what I know won’t occur.  Very well done, I really do love your work

Ah Kit, you lovely lovely lady.
I do hope all is well and these are just frustrating feelings....
I have these a lot...so many things I still want to do, and I just don't see them happening as fast as I would like.
Be well Kit...be happy.

Dear Kit

Sometimes there is just too much on your plate, I know this feeling so well.  It has made me want to take the plate and throw it against the wall, especially a person like you who feels the need to do everything so well.  You can pick the things you feel you must do and try saying no to others.  Life is to short and you, my beautiful friend, should enjoy it!  Oh...wonderfully written poem!

You always seem so strong and self reliant and this poem gives me a perspective on the Kit that we don't often see. The poem itself is so well done that it 'hurts' to read it. I know that whatever YOU want in life, whatever dream YOU want to follow is the right way to go. Have faith in yourself and you'll come out on top.

Kit,
I hold my hand out for you to hold onto anyday. I can relate to every word. You go through the motions of daily life, but you somewhere somehow forgot how to live it.

Your words say so much more, just remember that you still have your spirit within, you just need to keep that little bit of hope alive and hold onto it with all your might.

Holding you close, you have touched my life with so many of the words you write. Just hang in there.

this tugged at my heart so tremendously...
a very good write, but yours always are.
but this had something extra added to it...
that just really touched me deep inside.
perhaps because i can relate far too well
to what you write of ...i agree with all
the comments made above mine, you are an
amazing lady with a beautiful gift and
heart...may all your dreams come true.

Kit darling girl this is outstanding writing again you’ve painted the poetic picture, this is a snapshot of a life spent playing catch up. You really are an excellent writer darling girl, the silk smooth flow of this, the perfect tempo and rhyme it is excellent writing.

You know I often envy you your ability to write such utterly perfect poetry. But then it is rather like a candle being jealous of the sun, totally pointless. So I am content to read your wonderful poems, to travel along your lines of divine poetry to arrive in a poetic paradise that is PiP’s

I love this utterly utterly love it

I know this torrent of emotions too well.
But you are indeed something much more, you ARE a talented poet and a kindhearted person and I am thankful for knowing you and I wish you the best and hope that this is not reality-based on your part.

Take care,

Kit I feel as I know you, your hand and heart have reached out and touched me many many times. Your writing is incredibly beautiful carrying within it an indefinable quality that shows the worth of the woman. YOU are a woman, of compassion, talent, love hope and most of all you are someone I look up to. We all have our favourite writers, Krissy and Mum both have you in their top five, I have you in my top two. Your writing is incredibly descriptive and well presented. YOU are one of the stars that light the heavens.

BTW I love this piece of writing
Its Mushy’s youngest daughter here
I've been a fan of your writing like forever, but Mum wishing to keep PiP's as her sanctuary refused to let me join. However after Krissy joined she had to cede her position becoming untenable as it were.
lots of love

From this melancholy mood you speak
where waves of muse flow to and fro
I feel the seedlings of life's truth
stop to germinate and grow.
And beyond the season of thier growth
these tiny seedlings when mature
show me the harvest of your worth
beyond the hurt where poet's score.

Though I would be most honored to do so, I can't, with any honesty, call you my twin or my mirror... you're prettier, more talented, and we won't even begin to compare energy levels (for I have none.) *G* But there are times when I'd swear you'd been plundering the caverns of my mind and shining a light onto all those heart-hurts that seem unending. *S* I could close my eyes and your words would still sear across my brain, burning with each pen stroke. This is one of those times... and the only thing that makes it bearable is that I once again hear life in my voice... and hope lilt and laughter soon lift yours. Magnificent writing!

I wanted to be able to come back and thank everyone for your wonderful and warm replies to this piece, as each and every one means the world to me. After losing 3 weeks of work due to vacation and illness, my time is simply too limited at the moment, to respond to everyone individually, but please know that you elevated my spirits tremendously with your beautiful replies.

I can't thank you enough, as I was having a very difficult time finding the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for helping me see it … you are truly a wonderful group of friends, who never cease to amaze me with your warmth and caring. I am very grateful to you all.

Much appreciation and big hugs to all
