6 degrees

My great great grandfather
died in a hard fought war

My great grandfather drank so hard
he up and hit the floor

My grandfather hit his wife so hard
she ran out the back door

My father was an S.O.B.
that went out to the store

And me, I am a good step dad
but step dad’s are just ignored

Six degrees of separation, son,
please don’t make it more

Wow Way Out...this is interesting, the way you write.  Sad poem, but a reaching poem, and one I'd like to use as a teaching poem. "Biological vs. Step" is how I see this view, and it is so very true.  Blood does not always make the best parent, and it's a pity there's not recognition for the steps that are honestly more of family to children in what I like to call, "today's traditional family".  I liked your writing very much.  Thank you.

It may be fictional, but there's much universal truth in this piece, my friend... Nice write...
