Our Greatest Hero

Daddy raised me from the age of two
He was the greatest man I ever knew.
He accepted unconditional love
Now he watches over from heaven above.

He did his best to raise us right
He held us when we cried in the night.
He taught us to be strong and kind
Encouraged us to expand our mind.

There were times he had to be tough
And we knew when he'd had enough.
Daddy is an angel now up above
But I still feel his guidance and his love.

We love you daddy, rest in peace
Your love and memories will never cease.
And somehow we hope that you know
That you will always be our greatest hero.

~To those of you who may have seen this before, thank you for baring with me once again....~

I wrote this the night my father passed on and have Dedicated it to my Father with love and appreciation for all he did, and all he gave.Your memory will live in our hearts forever. As always, Happy Mothers Day Dad....We miss you so much....

Like a red brick,

somebodies brush
forgot to paint...

(big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, your heart always has so much love to give and share, I know up above your dad is always looking down upon you, smiling and guiding you with his love everyday as he will never ever forget you and cradle you with loving grace forever! (kiss on cheek) You are a true angel, sweet friend, never change who you are, for I am sure your dad would always say the same thing, we all love you so much, have the happiest Mother's Day! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Gentle Spirit,

This is a lovely tribute.  Mother's Day is for everyone, I feel.  Moms, of course, children....dads, too.  I spent a long time searching for a "Mother's Day" card for my husband, who is a new daddy to our 4 week old boy, and had no success in finding one.  I will be making a homemade card for him tonight, as this special holiday shouldn't go past without acknowledging his importance to our children.  On Father's Day, I anticipate I will also receive a card celebrating my presence.  "Mothering" is not limited to gender.  Thank you for your writing.

Donna, this is a wonderful tribute to your dad.  After hearing how he raised you after your mom passed on, I knew he had to be one pretty terrific man.
Have a Happy Mother's Day!

and a Happy Mother's Day to her as well*

An absolutely gorgeous tribute to the man who was both your Mother and your Father.
I think you need the kleenex warning with this one, Donna.

Beautiful writing, gentle one. In this day and age fathers do sometimes serve as mothers....and vice-versa. How nice of you to remember him on this day..he must have done a good job because look at you!

You brought a tear to me with this wonderful expression!
