Before the court of King and Queen as knights on steeds prepare the joust in battle dress of darkened sheen where only one shall be the oust Flags of pageantry flow in breeze as trumpets sound chivalrous call the moment waits for one to seize as both prepare to ride, not fall A kerchief white falls to the ground of darkened earth before the ride as trumpets blast the charge of sound and timid maids do their eyes hide. Riders in wait upon tall steed With hearts in beat of distant drum in want to see which one shall bleed as lyre and harp do softly strum A roar is heard on court of green as knights spur with pointed lance For one the blow is true and clean wherein be one is but a glance One the victor, keeper of spoils one the loser, lying in death till ‘gain shall ride in jousting toils in wait of mome’ of one’s last breath. Barry, you write of this era as though you have lived it... Another lifetime, perhaps? Wonderful imagery here. ~ With Hugs, Sighs, & the scent of White Shoulders.~ ~Somewhere in my heart I'm always |

Mushy darling girl....you are utterly, utterly welcome, as always... I was watching a movie this morning of that era and a joust took place, inspired this write... The movie was much better than my humble words could ever write... |

Nancy, this part of history is spellbinding to me...Maybe I was...sometimes I feel as though I might have been...and yes, the scent of White Shoulders floated gently with the breeze across the field of joust, spurring me to victory....HA! |

You have to be good at what you do or you wouldn't live to long in those days...and in between they were fighting wars and battles...James |
