The Night Falls

The night falls
weeping,
wetting leaves and blades of grass.

Day has died,
now buried by ivory moon,
caretaker of the critically ill.

Night always mourns
the passing of a day,
as it screams to live,
but dies, bleeding,
spreading its life's blood
across the clouds.

The night is still, quiet,
respectful of the dead
and grieving yet another loss.

Michael

I find this metaphor original and very interesting...Thinking of a sunset as the life blood of the day, changes my perception a bit..I like that.  Hugs to you, my friend!

Micheal,

I have to go with what Martie said (I know, that's cheating lol)  I love the way you have with words.

Hugs,
Tara

I love your imagery here, Michael...
I had never thought of night quite like this before, but reading your lovely poem, it does
make sense.
Great job here!

(big hugggssssss) This is so very sad but beautiful, sweet friend, my heart cries out to those every day who lose someone so special and endure the night mourning of that person and I wish them all healing and peace to their hearts! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, my prayers are still with you and many healing hugs, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Michael, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Michael, this is sad and yet it makes one look at things from a different angle,
which is a good thing.
Well done poet sir,
hugs...be well, my friend.

Very well done Michael. Chris

How critical times must be
when we have to look at
reality, and know that
night falls on us all...

Keep waking up to the Sun, Michael...
