Fat Clothes

Fat clothes
clothes that are fat
much too big for me now
even the hats

after losing six sizes
I don't look the same
some happy surprises
my old self, I've reclaimed

for the rest of my life
these clothes, I must keep
or my fat will grow back
on my hips, it will creep

so I'll keep them forever
and they'll keep my weight down
and if that doesn't work
I'll wear my fat frown

along with those clothes
that I won't need to buy
because shopping when fat
makes me want to cry

Thanks Larry...
right after my first husband died, about 3 years ago...I went on a diet and lost 80 lbs,
I'd gained most of it when he was sick.
But chemo made me gain 20 of it back, mostly from the steroids....and then, I lost 10 from radiation.
Now, I want to lose the other 10.
BTW, how did you get that reply in there while I was editing this message?

fat and skinny hugs~

Yeppers, Madame C! Someone told me the same thing about maternity clothes, but did I listen? I'm happy about that one tho. My daughter is my joy.

Thanks Serenity...LOL, I guess we should never give ANYTHING away!
Its true about maternity clothes too...except I kept mine and I got so much bigger the second time that I could only wear them for half of my pregnancy and then I had to go out and buy new ones anyway!

How well I know this one. I have clothes in about 3 different sizes. I just moved and one spare bedroom is dedicated to free standing racks of clothes. When I said that, believe it or not, some mornings I have nothing to wear, my brother looked at me in astonishment, but his wife understood. Hey, like I told him, they don’t all fit!! Lol

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

That is absolutely the right attitude!  Keep it all even if it doesn't get worn or used, that's what I say!  I cannot believe some of the stuff I see on the racks today...sheesh...my green and orange outfits looked a lot better than what they are selling now at 3x the price of then...

(big huggggsssssss) Oh Lyra, my heart goes out to you, sweet friend, I too am not much of a clothes-shopper in any way but I do know how it must feel to browse this way for a size and it can be so frustrating! (sigh) You will always be special to us all no matter what clothes you wear, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This is so cute and OH SO TRUE Lyra.
And, I know what you mean about those steroids first hand.
I have one closet designated for my 'all sizes' clothes....
therefore on any one day I am bound to find
something I can button or zip! Ha!
Hope you're feeling as good as you sound sweetie!

Yep, hold on to them, Madame C. You can always donate them to the Boy Scouts if they have a tent shortage!

I'll bet you look fantastic right now and, even if you didn't, no doubt you know that health is much more important than appearance....and I want you HEALTHY!!!!!

Thanks Marge...I am working on getting strong, but I want to let you know that I didn't lose that weight because of the cancer.
Actually, when my first husband was sick and I took care of him for a year and a half, I put on a lot of weight.  After he died, I went on a very strict diet and did lots of exercize and I lost all of it and then some.
I was very proud of it, but everyone kept thinking that I had lost the weight because of my grief.
I only wish it had been that easy.  I NEVER lose weight unless I work at it...in fact, I gained 20 lbs during chemo...but I did lose 10 of it during radiation...but it was probably just the bloat from the chemo, so I still want to lose 10 more lbs, and unfortunately I am too tired to exercize right now. ~weight loss hugs

Thanks Tracey...I have a whole basement full of clothing.  6 sizes worth!
When I first bought this condo, I hadn't met David yet, and I thought I'd have the entire walk in closet in the master bedroom to myself...but now I have to share it with him, so lots of my clothes have to live in the basement...but its more than worth it.

Thanks Sandra... I guess this was probably a bad time to post this particular poem.
I actually wrote it almost 3 years ago after my first husband died.  I had gained a lot of weight while he was sick, and afterwards, I really worked hard to get it off...and for the most part, it has stayed off, but I still have to work at it...sick or not...
I just never lose it unless I really make an effort!

Thanks Nancy...I have some clothes like that also...and also some clothes which are stretchy...and if they are tight, I can put a pillow under them while I put on my makeup and in the few minutes it takes me to do that, the clothes get stretched out to fit me.
It makes me look pregnant...but hey....its worth it!
and I am feeling better, but if I push myself too hard, I still get exhausted.

Thanks Victoria...of course, I would be the only one to GAIN weight on chemo...but the nurses say it happens quite often.  Its due to the steroids that come along with the chemo to keep allergic reactions down.
During radiation, I lost about half of what I gained on the chemo...so now I'm down to that last miserable 10 lbs! aargh!!!!

Only you could come up with something like that
Actually I wrote that poem 3 yrs ago when I lost that weight.  I'd gained a lot during my first husband's illness, and after he died, I decided to lose it all...so, I went on a real strict diet and started exercising, but everyone thought I lost it because of grief.  I NEVER lose weight unless I work at it...and I have been working at it since I lost it.  I weigh about 10 lbs more than I do in my picture right now, so I've kept it off pretty well except for that nasty 10 lbs which I can never seem to get rid of

Thanks Donna...You're probably right...
I have 6 sizes of clothing.  The real big ones are in boxes in the basement...labeled "fat clothes" but the ones which might possibly fit it I gain a little bit of weight are in the big basement closet I have and the ones which fit me now are in my bedroom closet.
I probably have enough clothing to furnish a whole women's clothing store

I thoroughly enjoyed this, Madame. *S* And I can identify with overflowing closets... I didn't whittle mine down until this last move back in December... something about having to carry every single box down one set of stairs and up another ALL BY MYSELF led me to the decision that if I ever do lose this weight, I deserve new clothes!
