Upon the bud of leaves in spring
as sun does come into the view
As words of poetry written sing
to cause the gleaming smile of you

A pen that writes and remembers
to say to a friend what is felt
from soft of words to the simmers
of warming heart where ice is melt

Words that flow and stain written page
come from the tips of these fingers
for poetry is poet's gage
from which a smile seen then lingers

This is much more than a smile
it seems to be a gift, of a poet
to a friend, and one that should
be treasured, for a lifetime...
