Sparkles that caught my eye..
a token to remember you by

Semiprecious stones
linked through a chain

clasped around my wrist
binding me

mentally calculating
the cost of a stolen moment

like a piece of fine jewelry
displayed inside a showcase

tempting my impulsive want
affording my needs and desire

to indulge myself
foolishly..

a fortune spent
in the spur of the moment

sparkles and catches my eye
when I turn to look back

and find it still there
in all it's brilliancy

true to form
bedazzling me....

Lori,
It's hard to argue with Mushy! I like the metaphor here a lot.

Thank you Marsha~  for mentioning the starlight, it is truly just that,  and I am drawn to it even though there are times I would rather not be.  Thank you soooo much for your gracious reply.

Another gem in the treasure chest. I like the flow of this, especially this line:

Great line.  I'd bet the cost is also.

lori,

you always take fairly simple concepts
and turn them into wonderful pieces
of poetry...this is no exception, your
words never cease to amaze me as your
wonderful gift never ceases to leave
me in complete awe. i loved this! your
words are priceless, and like a rare
gem my friend.
take care.

Hi Midnitesun~ I'm always so happy to see you here, thanks.

Hey Encino Man~     nice is nice and I thank you.

Duncan~  The real deal never comes cheap, of course I wouldn't have it any other way!  Thank you Duncan~

Dark Stranger~ I am not a mall hopper, I just know what I like and I like what I know!!  It was looking pretty good there for a while, but at least I didn't get robbed!    Thanks for reading me~

BC~ Thank you for your warm words and escpecially for understanding
what I was trying to say here.

Amy~  Thank you for thinking so much of what I write.  My thoughts tend to get away from me at times, and I've paid dearly when trying to pick up the pieces and hold them together.  k sara sara.....It only ends up costing more to keep worrying about it.
Hugs to you and thank you always~

Hello Lyra~ I liked those lines too.  I guess that pretty much wraps it up!
Thank you for reading and I hope life is settling down and you're  feeling well again.   Warm and gentle hugs to you my friend~

Hi Regina~  Yes, it's easy to be dazzled and wear the sparkle, if only for a little while.  Thank you for your lovely reply, and sharing your insight.  You're a sweet lady~

Noah~ Again you are hitting the nail on the head, no diamond could replace the jewel in my heart that will never cease to shine.   I thank you for knowing  and caring enough to read beyond my words.

Blues, I have always admired the simplicity in your metaphoric melodies, and this is no exception. Memories can be the greatest of gems in all their brillance. Wonderful work!

Maureen~ You raise a good question, but I suspect we've all stolen a few moments in our day.  You make me think too much!
Hugs to you too~

Dulci~ It is so nice to see you here.
Thank you thank you.  I got to thinking about when we were all writing those tankas way back when.  That was a great time, and I had so much fun with you.  Be well, stay happy!!!
