Inspired by RosePetal's title... Mother May I Mother may I break free from the hold of you from the mold of safety and protection that ignorance is bliss to find that life isn't so kind, afterall Mother may I love you enough to show you that sometimes even I stumble and fall, and little girls aren't made up of ribbons and curls, that we too are rebellion and regret Mother may I break your heart, just this once, to fly on the catalyst of your withered wings through skies that storm of a past that's not forgotten no matter how much you want it to be Mother may I remove the blindfold of your embrace to watch the eyes that reflect back from the truth of looking glass and see the face of the child within that had to grow up too soon with a wise immaturity Mother may I become what you had feared to throw in the towel of dreams and learn how to swim through the cynicism of lessons survived to find that I am in fast forward of rewind going nowhere through reality with optimism most fragile I have loved deeply and painfully and yet, to be loved in return has never kissed the lips of my soul. I know that fate's timing is not my own, but, I am tired of waiting and I have out-grown Cupid's game of red rover, for, I have no strength left to try to break through the arms of 'someday' Mother may I strip the red rose from the garden of your hope and peel off the petals with my tears of he loves me, he loves me not as I become the thorns on the wilt of love By Melissa P. Melissa darling girl, this is utterly utterly wonderful, I love the imagery and the language in this. This reads so beautifully, full of longing and yearning. I know how you feel darling girl I really do, it’s so difficult to hold on to hopes and dreams. But you have to ask yourself the one question that’s the hardest to answer ……… is it worth it? Love is worth any price, and the hope of true love ahhhhhh how can the soul survive if it doesn’t have that hope. Absolutely wonderful use of language and vivid pictures I really do like this. Wonderful writing utterly wonderful Love and warm stuff As always Mushy To give light to them that sit in darkness..... to guide our feet into the way of peace Luke 2:79 |

This is an interesting idea. I'll have to go find RosePetal's poem. I liked the theme in here very much, that sometimes we need to get out and experience things for ourselves instead of having them kept from us. Well done. ~sky I'm in charge, and I say question authority! |

Oh Missy, this is so quietly sad. How often do we go against our mothers wishes, to forge our own way in the world. I would always go against my wisdom, only later to find out she was right. She did not delight in saying I told you so at those times…though she did sometimes say it. I’m sure the role of a mother must be hard when they see their daughter making the mistakes that they saw coming. Love this piece lady. You write lost love more beautifully than anyone I’ve read. If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please? |

there's a quiet sadness to this. . . but yet, it's open and free. . . the child born and letting go. . .but yet, holding on. . . you know that I like it Melissa. . . --------------------------------------------------------- To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Wonderfully expressed, Melissa...I must say that this definitely hits home, as have a few others in here tonight...excellent message, as I realize it is hard to let go, but life must be experienced by each individual, not just through another's eyes and experiences...thanks for sharing this...great write! sp I've been down this road forever, and the time has come to circle back home.
