A Soddy Song from the Prairie

I found the robin’s egg blue, boy
I found the robin’s egg blue
It would have given us great joy, boy
And the robin’s song sung true

Now hold the robin’s egg blue, boy
Hold the robin’s egg blue
See the life that was to begin, boy
And the robin’s song sung true

Nature is just this way, boy
Nature is just this way
Hope for more robin’s eggs blue, boy
That robin’s song shall sing one day

I found the robin’s egg blue, boy
I found the robin’s egg blue
It would have given us great joy, boy
And the robin’s song sung true

Thanks for sharing. It has a delightful lilt to it. Is this one you wrote in the style of a Soddy Song or one you heard on the Prairie that you wanted to share?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Virginia, I imagine some one from long ago might have sung this to her son or daughter, perhaps...it just came to me this morning, and it seemed to fit my "soddy" peace of mind....thank you for reading...

(smiles) YAY!!! Oh my gosh, this is absolutely beautiful and one of my all-time favorites of yours, this should be a song, I heard music reading this, this could be some sort of country children's ballad! (big hugggssssss) Your wonderful Soddy series is always a pleasure to read, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Sing it girl,  sing that song....

Yes,  I think it might have been sung to
a child by a caring mother...Back in those
days....

very interesting. can definitely see it as a children's song, but i can also see an extended metaphor of desire incomplete - like it when i'm made to think.

Karilea,
Did I see you on Frontier House the other night? LOL Perfect. Your expectation of a soddy day tune is so possible. I love it.
