Must be the season - I've noticed the past few days that my browser has taken to refreshing with every page I visit. It's like my cache is turned off... uhm, but it isn't. If, for example, I hit the back button from a topic back into the main portion of a forum, it refreshes for me. This is kind of frustrating as it takes longer for the pages to load each time. Anyone have an idea what other settings I can look at? I've been through my options and nothing jumps out at me - hoping I'm just missing something simple. Thanks |

I don't use the Back button much, so hadn't noticed this before you mentioned it. I doubt the behavior is the result of browser setting, but rather is the way Microsoft has decided the browser should work. I suspect they feel they just fixed a bug. Think about it. When you click on a link into a forum listing, IE recognizes it's a dynamically generated page and ALWAYS asks the server for a fresh copy. Why should the Back button be any different than a link? In theory, the browser should never have bothered to even write a cached page to disk, since it knew the page would change. Of course, I'm just guessing and my conclusion is based on very limited testing (static versus dynamic pages). But I have this funny feeling the behavior you've described ain't going away. |

Think I'll stay with IE5.5. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

maybe a good idea larry. yeah, that makes sense Ron... well, Microsoft sense. it's particularly frustrating when backing out of a forum to the main forum listing (which i'm now trying to break myself of) because it acts like a new "hit," effectively messing up my cookies... grrr. thanks |
