My tattered bark is still afloat
Amidst Life's black, raging sea,
Of this thing we call "Modern Life"
So estranged from Tranquility!
How did I get so far from shore
And into this swirling maze?
Must trust sense now, for sight doth fail--
Enshrouded in this darkening haze.

This scene is surrealistic
A nightmare compared to the Past,
Who would have thought such change would come
Awakened by grim pirate's blasts?
Sleepers alone claim not bad dreams
Life's ocean Splendor's turned to Fear,
If this is Life come of Age--
I look back for the Past, once so near!

I know not how this Voyage will end
But I dare not jump ship, end it all,
At least I'm afloat-tho' shaken about
Attuned for a sweet Rescue Call.
Tho' it rages on in it's fierce assail
As long as I can, I will hold on,
Believing the Stronger I will be--
When the Tempest has once died down!

For all ye way-wearied Sailors
So distraught on Life's fitful sea,
Hold on Mates, I say, for Dear Life--
The Blest Harbor we may yet see!
And if I should be a sad victim
Of Humanity's vicious, dark sea,
I'll yet have the Satisfaction
Of not bowing to it's tyranny!

Every Day's a Blessing
And Gift-Wrapped from Above,
Share it with another
And Spread the Father's Love!!!

May You come to Know His Best Blessing

Dear David, my sweet friend, this is your poetry at it's very best! Worthy of the book and oh, how I know of which you speak!  Hugs and Ellie

Sorry I had missed this gem from your pen--but as they say, "Better late than never!"

I was with you all the way with this wonderfully poetic piece of writing! Beautifully written and echoes many of my own feelings...

Very intriguing poem, but would expect nothing less from such a talented poet as yourself. Glad you are here to share this poem.
