You stare at the face,
You know it, you feel it,
Somehow connected to your race,
Yet you are unable to place it

He returns your stare, flashing
A chilling grin that scars the soul,
The defenses of your mind start smashing,
As the darkness within takes its toll

Dare you look to the eyes of a stranger?
Dare you face the secret that lies
Under the skin, a concealed danger,
That multiplies thousandfold, like horny flies

You turn away, face blue,
Your mind a vortex of pain,
What is it that he wants to do?
Why do you feel like life has been in vain?

Impending mortality, creeps slowly,
The fear of death swelling over,
The light of the air, dims lowly,
Your face as white, as the cliffs of Dover

His pace increases and you flee
Down alleys dark and roads quiet,
Panting fast, at the impending misery
And on the edge of the cliff, you can only try it

His face smiles wider, he has you now,
No escape from the peril within
The eyes of a stranger, from which you did cow,
And now the journey of death will begin

The blade flashes by the moon,
And you shriek a wailing scream,
But it is too late, he strikes too soon,
And your blood forms, a crimson stream

He rushes into the black, snatching your purse,
Leaving you, to die alone,
And now your suffer death's curse,
And the pain of life has forever grown

Into a plain of hell that blemishes skin,
Onto the path of silver light, you walk,
You face down, the devil's taunts, ignore the sin,
Instead through heaven's gates, you walk

Placing on the halo, you begin your new way,
A protector you are, save your sons,
Guide them back to the path they stray,
For to you, they are chosen ones

You must feel no rage at the chosen fate,
There is always a time that shall come,
Young or old, it is a burden great,
That is relieved, when your life is done

So honour your soul suffered one,
And remember to save those in danger,
Forget, the dark deed that was done,
And don't you dare, hunt the eyes of a stranger...

(big hugggssssss) Oh Peter, this poem too sent a chill down my spine, I'd rather not implore the eyes of a stranger though I respect that they have their own obstacles to surmount and conditions so I wish them well and turn the other cheek! (sigh) This is powerful, sweet friend, you have my vote, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Peter, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I'll be honest and say that I never meant to come out so powerfully dark, yet as always darkness seeps into my work.  Glad you all enjoyed it, see you all on the forums
