The 6:40 blue sky
Hovered like a perfect,
Ocean eye,
Watercolor painting.

And we traveled, not so comfortably,
You and me,
The car’s cracking
Filling quiet.

Looked at you and quickly turned,
Shuddering in stillness.
Ahead lay road,
I, ready to take up its peace,
To let the chill of it to deaden me.

But I sat, waited,
Long and lonely.
Kicked old cans
And coughed.

And we never spoke
The cold beauty of 6:40 blue
Took us in
With silent pain.

- And so it was that time stood still -
     (blink, breathe, stand, fight)

Alyssa,

This is one of your best so far.
Each stanza has something special to say. As a whole it is incredibly unique. Such talent! Honestly enjoy rereading this. Terrific!

Alyssa,

Came across this again and still enjoy your poetic talent:

Such as:

"The 6:40 blue sky
Hovered like a perfect
Ocean eye
Watercolor painting"

And:

"The car's cracking
Filling quiet"

And:

"Ahead lay road
I, ready to take up its peace,
To let the chill of it deaden me."

And:

"The cold beauty of 6:40 blue
Took us in
With silent pain."

I especially like this entire poem.
Think you wrote it well. I feel the
"not so comfortable" ride.

Hugs, Pat

Pat,
wow, two replies, thank you! I wrote it just real quik to get the thoughts of the care ride out of my head; but that sky really was perfect. And it made me wonder why they call something midnight blue when midnight is so black.
I'm glad that you enjoyed this so much thank you.

Dixie,
you always like the sad ones. I'll keep 'em comin' just for you thanks for the reply.

Always, Alyssa

Wow... this is pure magic... the waves of repressed emotion... just amazing!  I have to agree- this is one of your best!

Sometimes poems are inside your heart, just waiting to be born... and I am thankful that you have given this one birth and shared it with us!

I am just in awe of your incredible talent... what a wonderful listener to your own soul you are.

Love,
Moca

wow Moca, what an incredible reply, I don't feel worthy... I don't think I really have talent.. I just write what I can't get out of my head, and use a thesaurus to do it! lol
I thank you though for your reply

(big hugggssssss) Oh Alyssa, this does feel sad, sweet friend, I hope now the skies have went into robin egg blue and singing with happy bluebirds warbling with joy for you! (sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, this would be perfect for Reflections, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Alyssa, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Albert,
glad you like it and others... thank you very much appreciated!

Noah,
well despite the pain, it really was a beautiful sky! None in reflections for me, but thank you much for saying that
