A Child's Tear

I wiped a tear from tender cheek
A drop of pain I stole to seek
The contents of a child’s tear
That fell from eyes and heart so dear

A microscopic view of life
Through perfect lens, a child's strife
From deep untainted wells did rise
And overflowed from little eyes

Upon the slide pure and pristine
And not a blemish to be seen
Just as a perfect crystal tear
That dangles from a chandelier

Reflecting rays of inner light
And casting spectrums filled with fright
How innocently sorrow pours
The sweetness from a child’s sores

For in the eyeglass was revealed
A scene the child had concealed
Unable to address the need
A mother’s presence was the plead

And written in the perfect dew
“Please come back home, for I love you
My teardrops fall when I’m alone
And I’m afraid you won’t come home”

“I don’t care much to play or snack
I only want my Mommy back
For Mommy, you’re my world, my light
The only one who makes things right”

The teardrop was a yearning sign
A bond of love in golden twine
And at the other end I see
A mother’s tear falls silently

A little droplet, crystal bead
That speaks of love and want and need
So pure and lovely is the dew
Most haunting song I ever knew

OH. MY. GOD. That was SO BEAUTIFUL! I am a mother and that truly touched my heart. There's nothing worse than seeing an innocent child in pain. WELL DONE!

this is so beautiful... so, precious.
I just want to hold the child, and the mother, now. You write so smoothly and so descriptively, how do you do this!?

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Elizabeth, this is so very heartachingly beautiful, sweet friend, my heart cries out to all children in tears and I pray they can all get the love they need from their mothers and fathers and every child has a warm home and family so he or she can grow happily! (wipes tears) I send many prayers and hugs out to this little girl and all others in pain, God Bless You, I send extra special angel hugs to you for having such a golden heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Liz, I am thrilled that this poem surfaced as I missed it back in February. It was one of those pieces that just pulled at my heartstrings.

Exceptional ... hugs, Marti
