I sit and eat my french fries like any good little girl would do blank stare The only light the eyes of my son playing alive at least a part of me is alive Sitting here stoic drugged yet desensitized this world people disgust me waxlike nearly transparent to me now I see beneath the smiles the gestures , the french fries all of it I see beneath and surmise They just know how to pretend better than I [This message has been edited by littlewing (04-11-2003 07:01 PM).] |

Dear Sue this is powerful and so well written. Your son is the innocence with which we all bloomed in our childhood ... and the world's events are so sickening that it is indeed difficult to maintain optimism for humankind. But we must align with children's hope for a better world ... To survive at times we pretend that everything's just fine ... yes. Hugs, my friend. Margherita |

you possess great insight. passion such as yours can at times be a burden, but know that in your son more than just a part of you lives. my heart goes out to you littlewing [This message has been edited by Edder (04-11-2003 07:13 PM).] |

Sue, You're pretending? I'm glad you're not very good at it! Nice write. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

I sit and eat my french fries Is there any better way to be??? As usual, a great job. When the morning cries and you don't know why... |

Sue, sometimes we have to just put on a smile and go on.......because, what is the alternative? If we give into our troubles all the time and never smile, we would die inside. I know...... Heart Hugs to you, sweet lady Ethel |

Just when you think things are becoming dark, your child smiles, and the gleam explodes, and laughter fills you like a break moment of insanity... and all becomes right again... ~*~ how quickly these moments run away, Sue... I know... and I understand... hearthugs... |

the eyes of my son...the inoccence of children lights the way when the ignorance of adults clouds it..it sounds good in my head but probably sounds dumb..i'll shut up now |

Could be, that the pretend and the pretense are learned behaviors. The bad news? Your son may never have that camoflage. The good news? With what you give him, he may never need it. A very good write....An honest write. |
