I wanted to write
a love poem to you,
but there is nothing new to write.

Enumerate the stars?
Describe the smell of the trees?
As thousands of poets have done.

I could craft romance
and sadness in lines.
Such as "She walked the road to its end,"
perhaps?

I could relay in the poem
the failure of language.
A poem about a poem.

I admit, I hold
selfish reasons
for writing this poem at all.

If I could claim your eyes,
the curve of your lips,
I would do so in these words.

But the touch of these phrases
wilts at even
the slightest reader's gaze.

I'm putting down my pen.
The ink can dry up.
Let's meet on the path.
You know which one.

LOL at JM...she invents the most clever lines...the rest of us have to stand in line to read, nod, whisper "yes" to what should be...

Me thinks someone is in love. Hope I'm correct. Enjoyed. Chris

Awww MIKE...what an awesome poem....for lack of better words, but I was so selfish in my reading....almost a "private" journal entry....indeed beautiful...

Through the darkness
I can see your light
And you will always shine
And I can feel your heart in mine

I will remember you
