Celebrating Change
By Larry Chadwick
Ginger Michelle February 19, 1974 – May 18, 2002

Some days will never be the same,
It changed the day that she was born.
Her loss will never change that,
Though I miss her I no longer mourn.

Tomorrow was her birthday,
And forever it will be.
Even though she is gone,
You can’t take that away from me.

I celebrate the time we shared,
And all her love she shared.
I smile at the memory,
Even though I am so scared.

How could I regret,
The child who changed my life?
She touched my heart,
And took away the strife.

There won’t be cake,
Nor any candle lit.
Just my memories,
And I’ll reflect a bit.

Until we meet again,
I’ll keep your memory near.
And just the thought of you,
Can’t help but bring me cheer.
February 19, 2003

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Larry, this is beautiful. I remember my brother everytime his birthday comes around. He died when he was 26 years old in April of 1989. I miss him so much. His birthday is May 23.

Your poems always bring a tear to my eyes, this one no exception.  You can tell through your poetry how much she was loved...and still is.

Martie,
Thank you dear friend. I can't believe I ignored everyone's response. Hope they are in a forgiving mood. Your tenderness means much to me.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
