Antiliving The Antilife

is this the goal, then?
to be sitting here
as opposed to lying,
alive and antibored?
what use then the striving,
facts, emotions gleaned
amid the chaff, hoarded
like Halloween candy?

TV lets me fill a box at once,
a wide and glistening blatherfall
of antifacts and burlesque,
anticontent, antiflavor, antiboredom
each set should come with a shovel

or the radio, its rouged nipples
I could twirl for a price,
the accepting of its candy and
a this-and-that of pleasure,
but most assuredly never kiss,
or dine in decent restaurants
where my friends would notice

the books worth the effort,
some of them, but most
thought-jerky at best
and the few good ones
already boiled like
hambones for the flavor

social interaction or
social incest, choose a word
neither fills nor nourishes,
only feeds the antihunger
yields antiyearning for a time
and is too much like a
choice of rice at home
or the quick pudding
of an affair, neither fills
nor nourishes

together they leave
enough of cloying empty
and just the leisure
to contemplate the choice
or progress by unchoice
until I sit and hoard the flakes
of soul that still remain
and count it luck to be here
alive, antibored, waiting

I've found a

Ed, this is wonderful!
I'm a word junkie and I think
I just overdosed in the best of all
ways...

clever, unique, highly satisfying,
you portrayed a world in unfurled words
that has made me smile wide!  [Be careful,
don't fall in!]

you are brilliant...

Through the darkness
I can see your light
And you will always shine
And I can feel your heart in mine

I will remember you

This is very different. I enjoyed it, though I had to read some of it twice to get it. That's probably good for me, so thanks.

It was like being under attack from the images but it left me with such a satisfied feeling. Although I suppose I will be hungry for more of your words in an hour or so.

Ed- Once again you have posted a masterpiece. I especially liked the line about a shovel with each set... too true.

Every time I try to do this well, you raise the bar again.
