Storm Angel Lost in storm, the raw wind flails her tattered wings, beats at the crystal lace, a threadbare sail that pulls her deeper through the whirling clouds, the sky forgotten, solid ground a myth. What errand brought her to this place, where hailstones wrack her spun glass body; and what misdirected fate decreed a roaring maelstrom, forks of lightning shattered into shards of color through the panes of her transparent form? Will it be ever thus? For though an angel cannot die, this gentle creature cannot match the storm, and though it slackens, even so her strength, the strain that she can bear. Pray for this angel. |
