I Have to Write Again |

I Have to Write Again I guess I just grew jaded, what more is there to tell. I tried to write my story, and I tried to write it well. I talked about the mountains, the deserts, and the plains- I guess I made it obvious, I'd do it all again. I told of all my travels, and friends that I have known- Lovers and companions, alas, they are long gone. My family is sleeping beneath South Texas clay, I am the sole survivor, I guess you'd have to say. I guess I'll load my pickup, and then I'll head her west. Relive the days when I was young, the days that I love best. I'll sit and watch the sunset, paint the skies a rosey red, And watch the moon rise slowly, when the sun has gone to bed- And let my ghosts come to me, and while the time away- We'll sit there reminiscing, until the break of day. I'll drive out to Fort Stockton, and visit the old Post, Perhaps I'll stop and visit with A. J. Royal's ghost. And then on through the desert, I'll keep driving all alone- And wonder of the tales it hides, and what of all the bones... Left there by the pioneers, Apaches, outlaws, too- If I but knew their stories, i'd tell them all, it's true. Perhaps I am a misfit, a man born out of time... Who writes of things he never saw, sets history down in rhyme... Again I ask, "Why bother?" Do I write in vain? And yet I cannot help myself, I have to write again. |

Gunslinger - Perhaps I am a misfit, a man born out of time... Who writes of things he never saw, sets history down in rhyme... Again I ask, "Why bother?" Do I write in vain? And yet I cannot help myself, I have to write again. No misfit I read here, one that writes not in vain but to pen a message of a man that should write such as this... BC |
