Blanche She was silk lined and curled salt and pepper the trick Blanche talked to birds had magic lemon trees and a pinch of sugar the stir My legs were too long she said for the rocking chair creak the memory resides still living just over there waiting for another child Summer brought the flowers up in the pond all sober and bright their lavender like a song cool across the nether place of orange popping fish La la la she was that too warm in places where I yearned a comforter I hoped could cover me safe from someone bent to steal grace but no she was not looking for the truth that in his goodnight was my bad dream and she will sleep forever not knowing all the words to the song I sang --------- For my Grandmother |

Oh this does move me, Martie. Your gift of light and song so gentle a palette for such a message....a nightmare painted in pastel watercolors, so much more terrifying for the sweetness in its presentation. You amaze. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

Grandmothers are full of magic it seems, and the very core enclosed in our backbone. This does indeed read like a song of love~ Such a beautiful melody, Martie~ |

If we could only protect all of the children... some of us are blind by love some are blind by grace others are blinded by pain... but your heart learned to love... despite being blindsided... Love and hugs my friend... |

I liked this but part of me is disturbed in the reading, confusion is a good thing, it makes me think. Thank you for sharing and making me think. Regards, Olias. |

a comforter I hoped could cover me safe from someone bent to steal grace but no she was not looking for the truth that in his goodnight was my bad dream and she will sleep forever not knowing all the words to the song I sang This just breaks my heart... and does so more powerfully because it paints such a tender picture as it exposes the lack of protection. Beautiful work, Martie! |

Oh Martie, this has so many layers, from the soft pastels that wash over the grief and love to the deep and abiding contrasts hidden within. Your poetry always moves me lady. Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |
