She screams
at empty air
preaching
to sewer rats
covering little ears

Waiting for
sequin god
woman
dancing naked
singing
"Blue suede Shoes"

Closing wide eyes
dreaming
he  enters her
to the the tune of
"Love Me Tender"
filling with Graceland

Waking alone
wandering
mumbling about
the Gospel of Elvis
to drunks and rats
on Hollywood and Vine

Brad...A powerful piece of writing. We often see street people as bums and drunkards...but we forget that they are people with lost memories and fractured dreams. GREAT POEM!!!! ***Ivy Rose

Once again, well done.  Stark and unsettling, I loved it.

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.
