East of the moon, west of the sun.

In the moonless dark of the night
She stands, waiting for me
With skin pale and cold as snow
And solemn black eyes, as deep as the sea

She moves with the breathless wind
Rustling leaves and combing grass
With slender fingers she taps the lake’s surface
Causing ripples on ebon glass

Slowly her gaze rises to meet mine
An emotionless face with flawless skin
Pale rose lips press firmly together
Black eyes betray a winter within

She stands motionless, shrouded in black folds
Until her fingers slowly rise
My icy breath catches in my throat
And silently I close my eyes

Icy fingers brush against my eyelids
And cold lips against my cheek
My knees buckling beneath me
And I fall to the ground, helplessly weak

I exhale my last breath, my last bit of warmth
And drift into an endless rest
In the moonless dark of the night
She stood waiting for me;
Death

((Well...this is a repost from a poem I posted under a different ID. My sis says this is her favourite, and after hearing she got accepted, I thought I should at least TRY. ))

Thanks for suggesting this, Kielo. You're USUALLY *wink* right, so, I thought I'd try.

This write has striking imagery.  Beautiful phrasing for such a somber topic.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Stephanie, this is so very dark but well written, sweet friend, it is a difficult issue to talk about, a simple fact of life, and this is deserving of my vote, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Stephanie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Very nicely done. Dark and haunting, yet not. Enjoyed.

A ghost-like presence almost ...

Enjoyed your imagery.
