they lowered the flag today, another mother lost her son, on a morning where winter still remains, flurries scattered aimlessly graceful as white butterflies make their way, beneath the same sky tainted with ashes and bloody cries, while sprng waits patiently to have her say, war touches home a town or two away, where americana shines with litte league games, echos of native sons past and future, thru summer parades as red, white and blue and john philip sousa still play, a mother lost her son today, flowers and hearts in purples mood, cross paths in death and life, as april comes full circle again, another mother lost her child today, the ducks parade down strikland lane, where one of their own lay dead, degraded, as a roadrage kill, tossed off to the side, such shame, motherhen crossing, her head held high, i didn't even hear her scream, in procession, her remaining follow her steps, to safety's way, i never even heard her cry, i close my eyes, i wait for sleep to wash over me, i meet my son's own smiling back at me, he becomes every mothers son this day [This message has been edited by inkedgoddess (03-31-2003 10:01 PM).] |

Michele, Only a truly heartless person could read this and not be moved. You haev once again reached deeply into our souls and wrapped them around your pen. You should consider this for the book. Imagine all the People living life in peace... |

I am quite certain I heard sunshine cry today ... clouds of masses, parading her skies, joined the downpour ... ... and share in her dream. Nicely you. |

Very good Michele. The realism of war doesnt have the impact until it hits home. But our braves men and women have a job to do and they know the risks. Lets hope this confict is ended soon with victory. Lets stand behind our President and God bless the troops. Dont forget 9/11!!! |

You have touched me deeply with this poem, so very sensitive and beautiful, yet immensely sad. Our sons become every mother's son ....indeed. Love, Margherita |

beautifully written, we had a touch of that yesterday too "flurries scattered aimlessly graceful as white butterflies" and yes, life even with death continues on... I think this is one of your best poems, Michele. |

In retrospect, I have to agree with you nakdthoughts this is one of her best poems. I dont think her stuff is as appreciated as some other stuff written on the board. Everybody has their own style but hers is just to be boring, predictable, or mundane. I look forward to seeing her new stuff and I hope it continues. Good Job, inkedgoddess |

Jason, not the way I've ever read Michele's words, either. . . Michele, this is one of the most loving and compassionate poems I've ever read. I don't think anyone could read this poem and not be touched. Thank you for sharing it with us, friend. Heart Hugs, Ethel |

amazing - you expressed a feeling I've had for years as a vet, when war is occuring - I find it amazing to be here - so peaceful & normal yet I remember - the fear, pride, & honor of being on the other side you provoke my thoughts & memories - ty |

Michele, after that memorial service today, this actually takes on an entirely new meaning... It was great before, however with my chaqnge in perspective, it has become absolutely beautiful in my eyes... my apologies for not seeing it before. Imagine all the People living life in peace... |

This poem realy touched me. My boyfriend is a marine serving over seas. I just hope and pray no more mothers will lose their sons or daughters. Thank you for such a wonderful poem. |
