   ~~~~~~~~~
I came to the party
with you.
A trophy for
your arm, with a
tarnished smile.
Eye candy
melting from
the heat
of adrenalin racing.
Knowing the anticipated
and applauded jokes
that too soon would
be spat from
your mouth,
Were to be all
about me.
Dreading the stares,
goulish grins,
and the laughter-
oh, the laughter.
That I could not
share.
Could not
bear
the din of.
Staring into my
glass of amber coloured
saviour...
I heard....
above your taunting,
above your humiliating
jest,
Someone....some voice
shouting to you-
"Hey Bro, it's your
mother on the phone,"
"She wants her car
and you home in
an hour."
Silence.
A shocked crowd gapes
at your reddening
face.
Silence.
Your punchline is
missing.
As I leave myself,
amused. ~
(giggles in delight) Oh Chris, I'm sorry, I couldn't help but giggle reading this as I know this all too well when some people try to not act like ourselves and be "cool" then are embarrassed by things like this, hehehe! (kiss on cheek) This is so well-written, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Chris, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love,
Noah, Nancylee & Karilea, Thankyou so much.
It's been tough going with my muse pouting in the corner, and then flying off somewhere to hide. Muses! Can't write with them and can't write without them!!
Chris, Talk about getting your comeuppance!!!!! This is great, and it made me smile at the idiot's (oh... did I say that???) final demise.
Staring into my
glass of amber coloured
saviour...
Great line with a terrific visual.
Outstanding job.
Chris, this is  wonderful.
I related to this (from the past)....."a trophy for your arm, with a tarnished smile". I hate it when someone uses someone else for their own ego.
And the ending I loved, too. He got part of the embarrassment that he needed, anyway...  LOL
I just loved the whole way you wrote this, Chris.
Heart Hugs,
Ethel
