A Losing Battle
~ By Sue ~

Sometimes I feel like Cinderella
Except I didn't have to scrub the floors
There were so many times
I wanted to walk right out the door

I pay such prices for her help
Like losing all my self-esteem
Which took me many years to gain
A battle, which is lost, it seems

I have no reason to be depressed
This is what she said to me
The feelings that I had inside
I would not let her see

Encouragement I never got
Success was not for me
Is what I heard between the lines
Each time I tried, you see

For this reason, I quit school
What use was it anyway
I would never amount to anything
My world just seemed so gray

It was my sister, who got all the praise
It seemed she did everything, just fine
But, when it came to me
I never did anything quite right

Wait a minute!  I see that fish!
I love to fish - but all I caught
were the little ones!  Seems to me
I'm the one who could be using some
encouragement!

We all come a long way in our lives,
Sue...seems to me, you're finding
your own path ... and will do better
than most because you overcame the
hardships better than most!

Hugs to you!

How well I know this story Sue...
You express it here very well,
The saving grace in all...

Hi Sue, I have to agree with Marge, you are so good about letting your feelings out. And you are so good at putting those feelings into poems.

Hugs for peace, Marti

Sue, You are a very sweet and compassionate person, and you are going to win this battle you're going through. Look how far you've already come in the last few months.

You have amazed me with your abilities to write exactly how you are feeling. And, through these poems of yours, I have seen how much strength you have gained. When a problem arises, you just handle it. I really admire you, dear friend.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

I didn't get this till I was an adult...It's hard to get over that, however, you have found your place in the world within your wonderful talents with words. I am still striving to become half as good as what I've seen from you.

Great job.

I sometimes wonder how many of us grew up with the 'you're not good enough' syndrome instilled in us.  As you know, I do understand this one, and I appreciate how you put it down to share with us here...very well written...

Sue you surely express the feelings of many and you do it so well. You are a poetess and you have reason to be proud, the future is NOW..... and you have already taken a big fish! And you'll continue to attract great things.
Love, Margherita
