The While of a Wile I tip toed through the whispering night The silver dance of cold moonlight Amongst the trees and dancing leaves And listened to the babbling breeze Spirits talked to ghosts in need Sympathized their tales of deed Quenched their thirst from wishing wells Pointed out the tolling bells. Gave them magic wiles to spend Food for thought to reach the end. Cheered them with a good goodbye And wiped a tear of lonely sigh. I could not follow them their way Nor could I in the moonlight stay But wished them well their way and back And turned again within my sac. And in a sleepy smothered smile I turned to dream another wile. |
