Moved from a shack to a barn

0 posted 2003-03-24 03:00 AM

This new season awakens me
From the cold
Welcomes me into its warmth

I find myself

Brushing the humus
Of hubris from my tatters

Shuffling through the debris
Of my wintry solitude

Kicking detritus
From the threshold of my
Hermitage

And emerge once again
Blinking
Into the light of a new age

Appraising how the landscape
Has changed
Looking for familiar landmarks

When finally, I step out
Toward what lay ahead
I glance back to my old refuge

And wonder

How much of myself
I’d left behind
This time

Ed, I was thinking as I was reading
about you talking about your fingers
getting so cold that you could hardly
type. Now that it's getting warmer,
you can post more of your excellent
poetry. Can't you? I hope so.

Heart Hugs,
Ethel

Ed - this is a song of spring . . . rebirth - but sadly - yes - we do leave behind some things that we miss - but we just HAVE to - you know?  Yes - of course you do.  This is just what I needed TY  xxoo

Dangnation, you're good! ---Correction! Dangnation you're "great"! Loved this one, dear Poet!

I especially enjoyed the following lines:  "Brushing the humus
         Of hubris from my tatters."

Pure Wranx!

Stepping out of the hermit's cocoon again?
I love the way you rebirth thoughts in unique spring metaphors.

If you manage to leave behind about the same amount as you built, you're doing pretty well....You never leave quite enough, but it's a good goal.....

All a matter of perspective, eh?

You make a man's pictures the way a man should make 'em -- strong and lean, with controlled muscle behind 'em. I admire that.

The ending wonder brings sadness... but whatever was left behind, whatever was sacrificed in this going forth... it certainly doesn't include your talent. *G* This is magnificent. *S*
