Grasping the Thread

this lull
is a gray cloud
a heavy sand storm
that mars the view
weighs upon my heart
fills my eyes
with saltwater

puts me in stasis
on the edge
waiting
ready
no
not ready
not ready for
the truth of what could come

clinging to
a thread of hope
that it will be over fast
that most will last
beyond the armored clash
into the joy
of spring
its new life
its love
its rainbow of vibrant color

a thread that ties us to life
