ENDURING HIS FREEDOM Copyright 2001 by: MARK V SHELDON soaring high above the world spanning a current constantly changing yet always the same impatient talons ready but waiting for the right moment to strike the animals below resent him fear him hate him his keen eye always on them no rat can outrun his streak of hunger no snake can escape his iron clasp his ironic shriek of freedom curdles the monitor's blood soon to be spilled across the sands of time then washed away by desert storm stepping on egg shells his offspring don't question the source of their warm meal as long as they're fed if it's red and dead they're satisfied climbing over one another for the scraps infinite in his arial reign and rare force just as the rising sun remembers "AS ABOVE SO BELOW" |

........and so good that we are on the human side of that war. Solid use of imagery and movement, and the symbolism so embedded it seems inevitable. Well done. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

![]() (sad sigh) I agree wholeheartedly, this war is against humanity and that is why I oppose it! I think so many have forgotten what the meaning of freedom is, so mind if I give back some vocab review? These are all ones that fall under "freedom" 1: The condition of being free of restraints. 2. Liberty of the person from slavery, detention, or oppression. 3. a. Political independence. b. Exemption from the arbitrary exercise of authority in the performance of a specific action; civil liberty: freedom of assembly. 4. Exemption from an unpleasant or onerous condition: freedom from want. 5. The capacity to exercise choice; free will: We have the freedom to do as we please all afternoon. Well, for starters, I think putting all those sanctions on the Iraqis to begin with certainly breaks the 1st definition, not to mention invading another country's borders that so many do not want. We certainly are oppressing the lives of so many innocent civilians down there. Bush's whole idea of bringing democracy to Iraq sounds almost as utopian to me than world peace and of course there will be many more political turmoils and balkanization down there! Civil liberty I think I already touched upon. And even while Saddam is not the friendliest man in the world whatsoever, those 60 cruise missiles and many more attacks to follow will certainly bring even more onerous conditions to those who just want to lead normal lives. Finally, this war is also tarnishing our own American's freedom of speech. Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks had every right to say what she said about Bush and the result: hundreds of CDs get smashed by a steamroller and many stations drop them from their radio playlists. Freedom of speech should be allowed, but vandalism isn't. It saddens me to see freedom being forgotten and the whole doctrine of forgiveness and turning the other cheek being pushed aside with God, that's what angers me most of all about this ridiculous war! Sorry if I rambled on so much, I have very strong feelings and that's just my opinion, one person even asked me, "So you won't be supporting our troops?" I said, "Oh, you bet I will support them, I just won't support him who is pushing them around, Bush! This is powerful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Mark, thank you for sharing! ![]() May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Ratleader, I thank you for the observations and appreciations. (and that's a cool little signature you got there!) littlewing, thank you for noticing. Ron, I know what you mean with the replies... and consider it mutual regarding enjoying your words as well... Noah... BRAVO! on many fronts... for standing up for your freedom of speech and opinion and for having the courage to do so. Thank you for your thoughtful points for all to consider. I agree... if only more people understood... Ringo, thanks for taking a moment to read and respond. I'm glad it moved you... Brad Majors, thanks for the read and response... as long as it keeps people thinking... Kacy: ![]() -MVS You CAN make a difference: |
