Osama

In the last hours before dawn
when the night is still
and all is revealed
I see your thoughts, my brother.

Old Man of the Mountain,
This is not your age.
Time and humanity has passed you
And your crusade is doomed.

You sought to unleash hate and fear
And you have done so.
And the world trembles.
But not in awe of you.

You have set loose a hatred of war.
You have set loose a fear of apathy.
It is their opposition
That shakes the earth.

Neither force will be moved
And each will err.
And in the end
They will join hands.

They will stand together
In the great light
And have pity  for you
In your darkness.

not so lightly to be caught

ng - excellent write and yes I do agree but this:

They will stand together
In the great light
And have pity  for you
In your darkness.

He will not be the only one to be pitied xxoo

A very good write...
but only One might
pity him....

Thank you so much
for such a timely write,
and a great understanding...

Interesting piece, in it's darkness.
Events-of-the-day poetry is challenging.
I might have concluded something other than pity be due a devotee of Stalin.
Enjoyed the read in any case.

As often as it goes out it will take you; for morning by morning it will pass over, and by day and by night. It will be a terror just to hear the report."
