48 candles
came and went....

and not a word from you,

no surprise though,

so disappointment
doesn't hang too heavily
right now,

i hoped though,

for a ray of light,
to somehow pierce through
your dungeon of deepening depression,
where the magic smoke of dragons,
has become your faithful lover,

i wished for you to show love again,
the way you sadly told me,
you feared that you've forgotten,

i walked the path of leaves
today,
where fantasy and reality
finally came together for us,

novembers leaves
lay withered now,
surrounding barren trees,
standing still in thick ice,
waiting for a touch of spring,

48 candles
came and went,
again,

i wished for love,

i wished to release myself
from playing the sungoddess
to any more frozen trees,

i too am tired of standing still,

i wished for new love
to come,
and find me.............

Michele,

The title belies the poem. Standing still, warming the frozen does take time for seeds of love to sprout.
Hang in there, spring is around the corner, may it bring you a sense of renewal and love you seek. Enjoy the variety of your poetry.

Hugs, Pat

Well, here's a great big hug for the last 48 years....and another one for the next 48!

Sounds like a whole lotta under-appreciation going on here! You deserve better--and better you shall find!

Warm belated birthday hugs,
EA

The sungoddess you will be - always - let everything else stay frozen and breathe . . . - it is Spring - time for change - you deserve it - truly - I loved this as I do all of your writing xxoo

(oh and that lonely birthday feeling - yea - that just passed me by too - keep faith and I dont mean in you know who - in yourself always and the rest will follow)

We always wonder why something so simple for us to give is so hard for another to notice.  I liked this a lot..and HB from one with a lot more candles on the cake.  Ken

Hope is a double edged sword!
After all a girl can only hold out for so long.

You're getting better all the time girlielocks~ so chalk it up to his loss!

Happy Birthday Michele~ I'm always a day late or two, (the story of my life)  but the thought remains the same.

I hope you had the happiest of birthdays!. Remember, you are not getting older, just better!!! A cliche I know but true. Appreciate each and every birthday, its an event denied many too soon. And finally, love could be right around the corner, or behind the closed door. Maybe the next FedEX or UPS guy????

"to being kicked and bumping into someone to heal those wounds and love..."

Happy Birthday and best wishes for love!

We never know what will come of the perfectly preserved heartbeats of November...something tells me that such clarity will breath a blessed sigh in spring.
Hugs to you my friend.  ThisDiamond
