I'm starved outside of bakery
the waft of promise baking drool--
picture me the unkempt child,
placing fingers on the glass.
The one who's always shooed away--
I am bad publicity.

"No such thing!" the cynics laugh
and hire doctors for the word--
   "time to cook up some PR;
turn the tables on the fool--
    butter that refuses melt
    when placed into the mouth--
    liquid lines of hypnotize--
    repetition slays the doubt."

I'm thirsty now beside the well
and long to taste the tin
of cup in full (and spill ye none!)
picture me the third-world child;
I stand submissive, mouth agape--
ignored, because I am "high-risk."

"There's no way!" I hear protest
but still they watch me lick my lips.
   "This child thirsts for spirit--NOW!"
I am the poster child of sin--
    watching chalice greedily,
    pretending I am listening--
a cup to snag the blood I bleed--
I learn to pray for sip.

I'm shivering here in the snow
not written in the prophecies.
I gaze upon the ancient sky
wond'ring who might gaze on me.
Picture me, the prodigal,
weeping tears for company.

Picture longing, comet-tailed.
Picture me as dark of moon.
Hear me in the verses wailed--
but sketch me, oh yes--picture me...

I like the way you let your feelings flow. This is a sad piece of poetry. But a great write.

Good lord!

You've no need to be sketched. You're painted in fully here.

"I'm shivering here in the snow

wond'ring who might gaze on me.
Picture me, the prodigal,
weeping tears for company.
Picture longing, comet-tailed.
Picture me as dark of moon.
Hear me in the verses wailed--
but sketch me, oh yes--picture me..."

serenity -

Picture me as dark of moon.
Hear me in the verses wailed--
but sketch me, oh yes--picture me...

Most beautiful verse my friend, very beautiful from a softer heart...

K - I always think I have my head together and then here you are:

"This child thirsts for spirit--NOW!"
I am the poster child of sin--
   watching chalice greedily,
   pretending I am listening--
I learn to pray for sip.

Just - IT JUST IS   . . .   xxoo

(sad sigh) I can picture you, but the sight of seeing you in this condition is so blinding to see! (big hugggsssssss) I think we all need to learn to sip, rather than devour it, patience is a virtue long forgotten, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Do you know my mother would have paid good money to have you around when I was growing up? *G* For your writing does what she could only do by threat of dismemberment... you leave me speechless. *S*

Julie--I very much appreciate your thoughtfulness in your reply. thank you

Ed...you are another, that when I read the words you type, I can hear your voice, and it always makes me smile... *yeti-hug*

Bill...you always did see past me. HUGS to you too.

Raph? Why aren't you out partying??? Go celebrate that birthday, you... *wink*

Sue...you are "one up" on me--I never think I have my head together!
You are a delightful twist of a sister!

shadow? "wow" is among my favorites of replies just for its simple sincerity. Thank you.

vandana--someday I will have to tell you my private joke about how your reply of "enjoyed" has completely vexed my husband...*evil grin* guess I just did, huh?

learninginlife? I don't believe we've met, but with all of the alias around here, one never knows! Thanks for taking the time to read and reply. (and welcome to passions!)

noah--you bring much joy just by being yourself, and I thank you for that.

ethel--just this:

and Ruth? totally cracking up here...I can tell where you are from, with that wit...
Jan keeps saying there's something in the water here...and yep? It's Johnny Walker!
*winks and hugs*

Thanks all...
