In ages old,but woe not so forgotten like yellowed pages locked within museum rooms Wars spurred by greed, the heighth of social degradation burst forth through time like spectres exiled from their tombs KEEP WATCH-the narrow margin ever narrows disclaiming Peace...its virtues scattered to the soil A crimson tide unleashed ignoring any curfue is lapping at our shores and slowly brought to boil Within these borders pealed a shining bell called Freedom Have we forgotten that this Melting Pot is here? The hatred for our own is nullifying Eden and anything we built this country on,I fear But somehow Faith and Grace will win the final battle When ev'ry knee shall bend is when the killing ends Until then, the Tempest toils 'til windows rattle to break the silence of our ever being friends August 21,1995 I wrote this after my 2nd time of living on the streets.Things were looking better for me,yet my eyes were always turned to what was happening within this precarious world of ours.I spent a number of years involved with various organizations that were supposedly meant to better our neighborhoods,to unite our peoples of many cultures, and to gather our voices together in Peace against those many forces that seem to be bent on violence, making money off that violence and/or just in it for whatever money or Power they could gain at the cost of the everyday "You and Me",stuggling to survive. I was amazed,of course stunned,as the rest of the world was, when 9/11 occured. As the days went by after the "unthinkable",my mind went to this writing.I always wondered at our presumption that these acts of inhumanity only happened in other places.Yet,I felt when I wrote this that one day our arrogance would be put to the test, that our supposed "might" would be penetrated, our Achilles heel would be found. A person on the street often finds that they hold a unique perspective as to how the world treats the vulnerable, the downtrodden. My myriad times exactly a year before and on through March of 2001 at the World Trade Center (as I had written about in the writing I presented here entitled,"9/11/00),had shown me many things at that crossroad for millions. What is it going to take for so many to "Wake up" and start reaching out and treating others with true compassion...only when their own "Security" is in jeopardy? If a man has not discovered something he is willing to die for,his life is not worth living. Martin Luther King,Jr. Detroit,1963 |

(big hugggsssssss) I'll tell you one thing, war is going to do nada, nyet, zilch. So many across the world do not want war, even domestically almost half the nation doesn't want it, and will only create more schisms between cultures and boundaries between boundaries! (sad sigh) I thought right after 9/11 finally we had found each other, but I was wrong, it only seems to be worse than ever sadly! (sad sigh) I too am praying that we can finally REALLY strive for peace and our politicians can have the heart to play by ear rather than by old logic, this has my vote, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweeet Geoffrey, thank you for sharing! May love and light awlays shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Well said. Please note..take the "resubmission" notice out of the titles of your other reposts.. Ron has asked that they be reposted EXACTLY as they were before the computer failure. ~Hugs, Nancy~ |

You know I wish you could get a site going not only to create awareness, but for other that have had similar experiences to add too, just a thought Your mind worked in an incredible way during this experience and sharing it is a gift. |
