Between the Lines

My heart is on leave.
I sit here not wanting to write
but the words come
one at a time
with each tear wiped.
So I find the paper and scribble it
before my mind
takes leave of it, too.

Is there a writer in me or
am I being forced to do so?
I rest my pen and wait for the next rush.
I am on ground level wondering
how high I will climb
before I reach the top.

Will it always be this way?
Words taking over and badgering me
until I place them here and there,
keeping me in their watch.

If this were a test,
I would fail all the questions
because in truth, I don't know why
I even ask those things of myself.

At the end of each day
I am spent and go to my bed
hungry for the answers.

"Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less."
