I guess this sums up how much poetry
has enriched my life.I have made so
many friendships through my love of
writing, all of which I cherish.

* * * *

My inner voice lay hidden
Until the day you passed away
It was then I started writing
There was so much I had to say

You never knew me as a writer
My voice was silent way back then
But through my grief I found my calling
Exposing my feelings through my pen

I began to find a purpose
As my words began to flow
'tho my heart was tinged with sadness
For you would never know

I opened my heart to strangers
Sharing the love I felt for you
'tho my life turned upside down
Thoughts of you would get me through

I wrote about my garden
And shared my love of the sea
Through my ever flowing words
I felt your presence close to me

I'd write of love and romance
And of those in desperate need
Poetry became my main obsession
How my mind would eagerly feed

I have made so many friends
And for them so much I care
I find comfort sharing my feelings
Through my heart and soul I share

So, Dad, I hope you see me
And I hope you would be proud
I've come out of the shadows
And through my heart my voice is loud

* * *

"The source of love is deep in us
and we can help others
realise a lot of happiness
One word, one action,
one thought can reduce
another person's suffering
and bring that person joy."

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

What pride your father would have for you. I too started "sculpting" words in a dark time and it opened a new and wondrous world.

Suetang - I found that it may take something like you have written about to find the inner self. I know that it did with me, and that's when I started to write. I really like this one, and my vote is in...

Sue, I remember this sequence of events like it was yesterday, and it is hard to beleive it has been about two years?  This was how you started remember?

I wrote about my garden
And shared my love of the sea
Through my ever flowing words
I felt your presence close to me

And that is how our paths crossed and it has been my privilege to watch you grow as a poet, and hold you as a friend.

Sue:  Maybe this gift of writing was the last thing your dad gave you?  Who knows. Something that would help you through the hard times and bring more love into your life.
