The Knowledge of Good and Evil Employed at the behest of a landscape architect, a migrant worker snips, lops and re-directs the twigs and branches of an oak. The effect snakes gracefully upwards against a winter backdrop. Snow, secreted in notches, aspires and seems to race the black bark heavenwards. Climbing down and stepping back the laborer stops to check his work then turns to leave, content that he'd done all he could. RMW |

This made me think [but all that you write, does] that we are all in some ways, migrants... and we all have a duty to perform our best... and sometimes, only He can guide us.... that is what you made me think... If I whisper, will you listen?... |

Hi Bob..so good to see you posting. You made me think too...wondering if it would have been better to leave the oak alone? Interesting poem, my friend...either way, the contrast of light and dark..both moving toward heaven gave me pause. |

I don't believe I've read you before now. I read this four times. I love the last line. That's all I'm going to say, except I keep getting a silly little grin on my face because I've felt this way numerous times, except sometimes I have to resist very hard, rubbing my hands together, with a there, that's as far as I can go as I speak to Him.... I very seldom interpret poetry the way the poet intended. But, I like this a great deal with my sense of what it means. enjoyed greatly, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Pat.....I am not sure where this poem came from. Just found myself staring out the window today at a lovely, but darkly branched tree trying to force spring. It would probably be a stretch (no pun intended) to suggest that it reflects a recent re-read of the interesting interview found in the first chapter of Job, but who knows. Anyway, thank you for the kind words and for sharing your thoughts. Bob |
