What love is this
That you would stay beside me
After all that I have put you through?
Why do you continue?
Why not just give up?
This is something that I
Can't understand, can't comprehend.
Love always protects, hopes, trusts, perseveres;
That may be true.
But must your love for me
Mean so much pain for you?
Protect-that you have, Hope-no question at all,
Trust-yes, that too, Persevere-beyond a doubt.
All this and so much more,
You've pursued with more than should ever be required.
I don't think I could ever explain
How sorry I am
But I ask you: Please forgive me?
and want you to know: I love you too.

I enjoyed your poem. It has a refreshing, different perspective than what normally is seen here, in that usually the character has been hurt by another... quite touching...and quite a loving person, described. How nice.

very nicely done. love always protects, hopes,perseveres.....yeah that's what love should be like. what happens when a person gives so much love, yet it is returned with pain? the forgiveness comes. i really liked it. hoping to see more!

Hi everyone

Thanks for your replies. A friend pointed me to passions and I'm loving it! I do have to admit, I'm kinda nervous about this but I think it will be fun. Unfortunately, I won't be able to visit as often as I would like because I have a hectic schedule and don't have much access to a computer but I'll be here when I can. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and encouragement

I'm quite nervous actually. I've only shared my poems with one person before, the friend that pointed me to passions, and now my poems can be viewed all over the world. I'm not really sure what I think about that. The more I'm here though, the more I enjoy it. Thanks for the welcome
