C-span Nude 1: It is evening. My roommate and I Are putting on a party. The big screen is on, The program is talking heads Of U.S. policy toward Cuba. I want to ask a question. I crawl into the set And find I’m in another world. Startled to be in the studio, I get cold feet. Quietly, As I’m not supposed to be there, I slip past the talking heads And find a slide. I glide smoothly Down … down … down … At the bottom I find myself in a room That seems suffused By a warm and dreamy glow. I stand there for a while, entranced. Then I decide to try again. I climb back up the slide Into the studio, This time not caring That I’m not supposed to be there. The show is almost over. I raise my hand And the moderator says: yes. I make the observation That, some years ago, There was a public ceremony During which Fidel tried to retire, But the people wouldn’t let him And begged him to come back. President for life again, … Indeed! … Indeed! … There is laughter And then murmured agreement, And then the program closes. 2: I crawl out of the set Emerging back in the apartment. My roommate says nobody’s here yet, So he’s putting on another album. I’m glad nobody’s here yet, No one watching me on television. 3: I crawl back into the set, Planning to investigate the slide, And the little room downstairs With the warm ethereal glow, But I run smack into the moderator, Sprawled across the floor, Lush, beautiful and nude. I am shocked At the sudden transformation of her person. I think: my God, What if we are still on television? Playfully, She is teasing, laughing, vocalizing, Dropping s stream of quick one-liners, Until I finally interrupt: Don’t you have something on your schedule? She pauses and says: yes. Then she drops another line: “I love those who love Me; those who hate Me love Death,” But what if we are still on television? What if millions are still watching? What horror! What if Mother finds out? This is also for Mysteria, who I understand has been on television, and no doubt dressed more appropriately. Jaime There’s a spotlight waiting No matter who you are. Cus everybody’s got a song to sing. Everyone’s a star … From “Rock And Roll Heaven” |

The voice of this is one that needs to be heard. Just now thinking that C-Span's "Book TV" might be more exciting this way as well. Thank you. What light through yon window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. |
