Mask (3/7/03 JDC) He stands alone in the crowd Hoping no one notices He captivates me He laughs so joylessly Watching for laughter returned He mesmerizes me He watches for the next blow Wanting no one to see He hypnotizes me He is beautiful and has no clue Wounded, he tries to hide And doesn’t realize all that he is When he finds the peace He doesn’t know he is looking for I will be here, as I was before |

The last stanza really stood out to me. I know this situation so very well right now and will have to show it to someone else. Enjoyed this very much. Well done. |
